Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women. 1 in 8 women, and an every increasing percentage of men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.

Models Giving Back is pleased to present Rock Your Rack, an annual fundraising event combining the best of SL Music and Fashion to support the work of breast cancer charities and raise awareness for early detection which is critical to a positive outcome for this devastating disease.

This year's 4th annual event will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation providing mammograms, education, support and early detection services to anyone in need. 

The 2016 Event is all together on one sim and involves 63 designers including 9 Gold sponsors:  AlaFolie, Athena Couture, Dulce Secrets, Emerald Couture, Empyrean Forge, LaVian & Co, phedora, Prism and Kultivate Magazine.  Along with these designers,  14 DJ's, 11 Live Musicians, 22 2D/3D artists, and 22 models will participate in the two week long event. 

Events during the fundraiser include 9 fashion shows, 11 live musical concerts,  12 DJ dance parties, a 10L Hunt,  Two Silent Auction areas, an Art Exhibit organized by Kultivate magazine, Art Auction and 7Seas Fishing Tournaments.  Designers will be providing exclusive creations with 100% of the sales of those items going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation along with a fine selection of the newest and most popular designs donating a percentage as well.

About Models Giving Back

Models Giving Back is an agency of professional, certified SecondLife models who give of their time and talents to raise funds for legitimate and verified SL and RL charities.  

Models Giving Back was founded in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood after a previous agency dedicated to charity work was forced to close due to the owner leaving SecondLife.  Jamee felt the work that was being done needed to be continued and set out to lead the models that were already a part of the former agency into new and bigger endeavors at the newly created Models Giving Back. 

To date the agency has partnered with dozens of designers and provided models for runway, print and other functions that support charities around SL.

Rock Your Rack is the creation of Jamee Sandalwood and is owned exclusively by Models Giving Back in SecondLife.

About the National Breast Cancer Foundation

The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.  At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options.  After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.  NBCF’s mission is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need.  This mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

Swank June Round 2016

Today my blog is about the needless tragedy that seems to be going on 

throughout the world today. 

For anyone who thinks it's a great idea to kill those who 

do not believe or act the way they think they should...

don't you think that actions towards making 

someone do something they don't want to..

or to have to hide themselves in shame...

or even worse...to take someones life because they

do not believe the same things as you do...

is not far worse than the things you are judging? 

Seriously, how stupid are people these days? 

I thought judging someone over the color of their skin was the most ridiculous mindset 

a person could curse themselves with. 

But evidently violence in some stupid ideal of being better than 

someone else has gotta be the epitome of stupidity. 

Yea I know, I don't rant much but I have lately. 

I was always taught to treat others the way I would like to be 

treated. Was the golden rule lost somewhere along the years? 

To all those who feel hopelessness in the violence that seems to 

plague our society and it seems like you cannot trust anyone...

Like Mr Rodgers said...and yes we should all look to those men 

who bring forth light and love...

He said that his mother always taught him to look to the helpers. 

In every tragedy a few people may cause chaos but look

to those who come in support, love and comfort. 

The majority of us are good people who love others and life itself.    

And yes I am gonna quote the good book. Satan was given the power to bruise our heels, 

we are given the power to crush his head. 

Just always make sure you are one of the helpers...

the ones lending a hand, the ones who will not be crushed but

one that is willing to lift up this world and yourself above the 

degradation that is rampaging through the streets.

We are better than that.

Today I am drawn into thinking about the past. 

My mom use to own a fabric store and 

I use to spend hours with her at trade shows and 

little shops looking for the perfect fabrics 

for her store to sell. 

I learned to love fabrics, the way they are made...

and what you can do with them. 

I spent even more hours making my own clothing

and crafts for others. 

My mom is in the hospital, 

a small surgery turned into something 

that has us all worried and on edge. 

She had some heart trouble through the surgery

and thus is still being monitored. 

Funny how it takes an event to make us look back.

Girls, we've heard it all before. We've heard all of the variations:

"We should do something."
"What are you doing this weekend?"
"Want to hang out?"
"We should hang out soon."

What is this? What are you really trying to tell us when you ask us to "hang out?"

From the time I was young, I hang out at friends,
hung out at the library,
hung out at the drive in,
hung out at the pizza pie place by the college,
So when I am asked to "hang out"
romance does not seem to be part of the offer.

You men need to realize if you want to develop a relationship with
a woman, you best be asking her out.

NO! that does not mean to hit her up at 5pm on a Friday or Saturday night.
If you are buzzing my phone late Friday or Saturday, I think you are looking
for one of two things.
You either want a booty call or you want to hang out.
Neither of which are really on the agenda
these days.
I am far too busy to 'Hang'.

 Hanging out is nebulous.
Asking someone to "hang out" without a plan or a purpose is disappointing,
to say the least.

So...
I am posting a how to guide so you can be prepared.

I myself am not a cat woman, but I have friends who are. 

Not all of them are alone and just love their cats, 

they come from all walks of life. 

Myself, I have never been an animal person, since I have allergies, 

but I recently got a puppy. 

So ok...I can see some of the reasons why people love their pets so much. 

I have to take care of him like a baby, 

we went through the whole eyedropper feeding him 

when he was tiny. 

Graduated to a bottle and then to dog food. 

So as I baby him, just like you would an infant, 

he has kinda grown on me. 

He actually has been good for the whole family...

so why not?
